April 25th Newsletter

Dear Sea Dwellers,

Great inventory week with our coral selection, having some beautiful Australian corals arrive this week.  I can’t exactly tell you how many acan’s and other corals we have in stock, but it’s a lot!   I know the furnace is hot right now due to Monday’s high activity level.

We have been busy sdc’z around here lately doing some Spring cleaning, and digging deep into the husbandry department to improve our already high standards of fish and coral quality.  If you came around the warehouse these last couple weeks you would have noticed some people on high ladders scrubbing and doing the “dirty work” which leads to greater quality.

In preparing for the Summer Swing of things, we have chosen to make 100% sure your SDC’s orders will only be of top quality product.  We understand that quality and support are two very important things our customers and their customers can rely on when ordering through us.

We have also finalized some excellent Fed Ex rates to make shipping to your door more affordable and convenient.  Orders of 6 boxes or more, can now be shipped via Fed Ex on one custom made single pallet to maximize costs and compete with Airline rates.

Shipping multiple boxes on one single pallet eliminates the fear of having a lost box on a multiple box shipment, and also NO MORE HANDLING ISSUES with broken boxes as all boxes will now be shipped and remain on that pallet until arriving at your store location. The rates I have been negotiating for months are now available.

We have also achieved new shipping rates with Fed Ex for 2 day, 3 day and 4 day air.  This could be seriously looked at for big savings on shipping live rock and having it delivered instead of making a special trip to the airport.  Depending on your location and manpower, you might want to seriously consider taking advantage of this.

I believe the palletized shipments could greatly change the way many of you now ship your livestock.  Please email me or your sales rep for more information and watch for zone charts to be launched on our website to know exactly what rates you will be approved for.

Best regards to all,

Eric and the whole SDC Crew!

Dear Sea Dwellers,

I am feeling genuine! This industry demands nothing less, and that is what I have tried to give in the nearly 20 years I have been doing this professionally.  Once I started selling fish to customers all over the nation, I knew that honesty was the only way to go.

Sea Dwelling Creatures has always carried my philosophy in business, but with all the challenges we face each day, it’s not as simple as it sounds.  With airline delays, weather related issues, living animals etc….it’s all we can do to try our hardest, hope for the best, pursue to be the best, and be loyal to our customers while hoping they will be loyal back to us.

I have always sent out the message that I have an open door policy and want all our customers to know I am hear to listen and do the best and fairest thing for all involved.  It’s true, there is a balancing act to follow, but the right thing to do when faced with a difficult decision usually is clear for me to see.  I like to listen to customers, and offer the best advice and support I can.  Fortunately, I have two great partners and an amazing team of people working with us that together we can all get ahead and put some seriously good product into your arsenal!

Business is all about building relationships and we have made some great ones.  I don’t want this to sound all mushy, but I do appreciate everything around me and all the hard work we all put in each day, week, month, year…..on both sides….our staff and the customers with all their staff and so on.

This week might just be another week, but it’s one we can appreciate and realize how lucky we are to be working with ocean’s beauty.  I can’t think of a better way (well…horses would be my second choice:) to spend my time building and providing for us all.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions or comments so we can best serve you.  We really appreciate the feedback and want to hear from you.  Remember my open door (phone) policy:)

Best regards to all,

Eric and the whole SDC Crew!

Dear Sea Dwellers,

There has been a lot of buzz around the industry these last few weeks as the petition deadline draws near for the Coral Petition being discussed by our government.   The industry has been asking for people that have experience in coral management or conservation, or other experience regarding the corals listed in this bill to ban certain species of corals, to please write urgently.

The bill basically lists 83 species of corals that are being considered banned.  I have read a few very well written pros and cons to the bill, but hope more we can find more people to give a professional opinion on the situation.

Interested persons may obtain a copy of this coral petition
online from the NMFS HQ website: http://
www.nmfs.noaa.gov/pr/species/invertebrates/.

I hope everyone is settled in following the  Easter Break, and is ready for the coming week!  We have some great specials this week, and lot’s of healthy product ready to serve.

I look forward to seeing all your orders during the week….and helping to make this another good one:)

The live rock should be in early week, hoping for Tuesday arrival.  We would be happy to take your orders now, and get your orders scheduled so we can ship the rock orders as early as possible.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions or comments so we can best serve you.  We really appreciate the feedback and want to hear from you.  Remember my open door (phone) policy:)

Best regards to all,

Eric and the whole SDC Crew!

Dear Sea Dwellers,

Into April we go…full of stock and ready to rock!  As we continue to carry the largest inventory in the aquarium industry, we keep the fill rates for everyone at the highest level possible!

This week we have some great Australian fish on special, and Australian corals in stock!  We don’t import Australian fish every day, so this is a special week AND we are taking it all the way by putting these Australian fish on special to keep the good values coming:)  I hope you all take a good look through the fish specials and take advantage of our offers.

On the coral front, we are full of special corals from that special supplier in Australia that I had written about 4 or 5 weeks ago.  These guys over in Oz are completely above and beyond when it comes to top quality corals….and this is what it’s all about!  If you have been looking for show pieces of green frogspawns, this is it! Trust me!  Aside from the many awesome euphyllias, we have some elegance from this same supplier that were awesome and everything we could hope for in this coral.

With Spring Break here, I hope everyone has a chance to spend some time with your families and enjoy the break.  I will be out of the office  this week working on obtaining more fish permits and promoting sustainable fisheries.  I hope to speak to all of you soon!

Best regards to all,

Eric and the whole SDC Crew!
