Sequence® and ValuFlo® pumps are the leaders in high efficiency and performance. Our brands are the name you can trust to provide the lowest cost of ownership. Their longevity is legendary. If overall value is the benchmark, MDM Pumps are the standard.
MDM Pumps has intensely cultivated its brands since 1978. Their names have become synonymous with high quality and innovation at a reasonable price within many market segments.
MDM was founded as a non-metallic pump manufacturer in 1978 by Gene Ashe, a fourth generation pump specialist. Gene’s great grandfather sold Dempster Windmills. His grandfather purchased Shaw Pump and Gene’s father expanded the business selling Jacuzzi and Berkeley pumps. The same way that farm and ranching families describe what they do as being in their blood and a way of life, pumps are a way of life for the Ashe family, with a fifth and sixth generation lined up to continue business development.
The inspiration for MDM was a proprietary seal design that Gene developed to be able to offer plastic pump technology for chemical processing applications, assuring fluid purity. With insight gained as Gene says from standing on the shoulders of his forefathers, Gene bought tooling abandoned by Purex and made the product work. Steps to develop the patented Impenatra® seal design for use in highly corrosive industrial applications have been a guide for continuous product, process & organization development at MDM, expressed in terms of Core Values.
Multi-Duti Manufacturing, Inc. (MDM Pumps) has intensely cultivated its SEQUENCE® and ADVANCE brand names since 1978. The names have come to mean high quality and innovation at a reasonable price within several pump market segments; Industrial, Commercial, and Consumer. The addition of trademark names like VALUFLO®, GENESYS®, and C-Shell® is a testament to an ongoing commitment to innovation and product development.
Meets Requirements Exactly is the benchmark, with better than 99.8% historical performance.

A city in Minnesota wants residents to give their pet goldfish to a “responsible friend” instead of throwing it in a waterway. The city of Burnsville tweeted that it recently found large groups of goldfish
at Keller Lake, and suspects residents could be the cause. “Please don’t release your pet goldfish into ponds and lakes! They grow bigger than you think and contribute to poor water quality by mucking up the bottom sediments and uprooting plants,” the city said in a tweet.
The city has partnered with the city of Apple Valley and Carp Solutions to conduct a fish survey on Keller Lake to assess populations of invasive goldfish and other fish in the lake. “Instead of releasing your pet goldfish in a local lake or pond, please consider other options for finding them a new home like asking a responsible friend or neighbor to care for it.” the city of Burnsville said in a Facebook post.
Daryl Jacobson, natural resources manager for the city of Burnsville, told USA TODAY the city had received reports about goldfish being in Keller Lake before conducting an initial fish survey. “We expected to get goldfish, but were surprised how big they were,” he said. Goldfish tend to match their environments and that’s why they can be small in a home aquarium and larger in natural waterways, according to Jacobson.
“They are a tough species. They can survive under ice, with low oxygen and in unclear water,” he said. In the past, other cities have brought up concerns about the “giant” fish and its effects on ecosystems. In 2013, biologists were worried that Lake Tahoe’s blue water
may be affected by the large goldfish population, after they believed people were disposing of the pets in the lake.
Goldfish reintroduced to the environment are considered an invasive species, an organism that is not indigenous, or native, to a particular area that can cause great economic and environmental harm. Last year, a man fishing in South Carolina caught what appeared to be a 9-pound goldfish
,though the fish wasn’t native to the area.
“It reminded me of when I was a little kid, my mom was a teacher and she brought a goldfish that was in a small fishbowl home,” Ty Houck, Director of Greenways, Natural and Historic Resources for Greenville County’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, told USA TODAY. “We put it in a bigger aquarium and we both were surprised (at) how big it grew.”
In Burnsville, Jacobson said he believes there are probably more goldfish in the lake but due to preliminary findings, isn’t sure if they are or will become a big problem. For residents who decide they don’t want them, he urges for them to find an alternative than throwing them in a waterway.
“You may think it’s a humane thing to do, but these fish are not meant to be in our natural system in large numbers,” Jacobson said.

We wholeheartedly encourage you to ask your local fish store or Public Aquarium to take any unwanted animals. Please do not take aquarium animals back to lakes, ponds, rivers, streams or the ocean. The harm you cause can be catastrophic!!

The Apex is a self-contained monitoring platform built for reliability – for when things go wrong – It’s not just a toy to play with when everything is A-OK.
Every Apex has a built in web-server (tech talk for its control software and built-in web interface) with complete functionality – even if the internet is down! This is important, see why. . .
Let’s say you have a power outage and want your aquarium to take the appropriate actions to maintain the fish and corals for the longest time possible. Or, what if the internet is down (or a company’s cloud servers) and you simply want to manually turn on your lights or turn off your skimmer.
Some aquarium devices work ONLY via their online cloud service, so when the internet is down or slow, you are out of luck. With the Apex, even if the internet is down, your tank will continue operating without interruption.
· Prevents catastrophes by monitoring key parameters in your aquarium, takes corrective actions for you, and alerts you via your smart phone when things go off track.
· Monitors your equipment – ensuring it is operating correctly at all times – and lets you know when it’s not.
· Tracks your manual test results, maintenance, livestock purchases, and tank observations and helps you correlate issues in your aquarium to the things that are happening inside.
· Manages the full operation of equipment (lights, pumps, filters, ATO, etc.) on your tank with simple setup wizards and an easy to use app.
· Takes the place of many costly and cumbersome discrete components such as light timers, heater controllers, pump controllers, etc.
· Gives you the peace of mind to know how your aquarium is doing, instantly, from anywhere in the world.

What to do if your shipment is delayed or lost
We want to remind everyone what to do if your
shipment becomes delayed or lost.
Contact your SDC – ERI Sales Rep immediately to help expedite the shipping process and to help you with the process of doing a claim.
No matter if your shipment is two days late or a week late, it is ultra important to pick it up from the airlines so that SDC – ERI can have a chance to get a freight claim on your behalf. Regardless of what the airline rep says, ONLY THE SHIPPER (SDC – ERI) is allowed to do a claim.
In most cases, shipments that have been in transit for more than 48 hours have a very good chance of receiving a claim.
Request a claim form from the airline representative. Get them to notate what the circumstances are with your order. Notate if the boxes are damaged or leaking. If they do not have a claim form then feel free to bring your own with you by downloading it from your airlines website. If you do not have a claim form then write some notes on the airway-bill BEFORE you load the freight on your truck and ask the rep to acknowledge what you mutually agree on by signing and printing their full name on the airway-bill or the claim form.
The next step is to get the fish back to the store and carefully acclimate them. Neutralizing the ammonia is the most important part of the process. First, float for temperature acclimation. Next cut open the bags and pour the fish gently into your buckets and measure the pH & ammonia levels. Neutralize the ammonia and begin to drip acclimate slowly.
While you are acclimating you can notate the DOA’s on a copy of the invoice that we sent to you.
Please photograph the DOA’s which can greatly aid in our attempt to get your claim. This is best done by lining up the DOA fish neatly on the white Styrofoam lid that accompanies the box.
We will need you to fax/email the DOA’s along with the claim form, photos and the airway-bill as soon as possible along with any other useful information about the situation.
While every situation has its own particular set of nuances, this is a general guide of the most important steps.
-Never Refuse a shipment… No one wins and everybody loses.
-Contact your SDC – ERI Sales Rep immediately if there is some unusual delay.
-Get a signed document from the airlines
(claim form or airway-bill)
detailing the circumstances.
-Neutralize Ammonia before introducing a different pH level to the fish
-Send DOA’s, Claim Form, photos and YOUR Airway-bill copy to your Sales Rep.
Most of you will never have to deal with any of this but we want to make sure that you are aware of the proper protocol in the event of a claim situation.
Thank you all,
Your friends at SDC – ERI

SDC -ERI is always looking for the tweak items to play with that make the reef keeping experience exciting and better than the past. We are pleased to say we found such a product with 4k Gyre Pumps.
Using them in our facility gives us a leg up due to the extremes that we put our equipment through. They are rated for up to 125+ gallon aquariums. We like to use multiple units on our coral grow-out systems as well is in our coral raceways because of their spectral flow. This ensures that all of our corals are getting quality flow without dead spots in the flow to the bottom, corners and edges of our systems.
SDC – ERI’s industry professionals have
approved them as worthy for use!
