Pseudochromis bitaeniatus, also known as the royal dottyback or bicolor pseudochromis, is a species of marine fish belonging to the family Pseudochromidae. It is found in the western Pacific Ocean, ranging from Indonesia and the Philippines to Micronesia and Palau.
The royal dottyback has a striking and colorful appearance, with a predominantly purple or blue-black body and a bright yellow stripe running along its dorsal fin. It can grow up to 8 centimeters (3 inches) in length.
This species is typically found in coral reef habitats, where it feeds on small invertebrates such as crustaceans and worms. It is a semi-aggressive fish that can be kept in a community tank with other larger and similarly aggressive fish. However, it may become territorial and aggressive towards smaller or more peaceful tankmates.
