Xenojulis margaritaceus.
Xenojulis margaritaceus, also known as the Pearl Wrasse or Margarita Wrasse, is a small marine fish species belonging to the Labridae family. It is found in the Indo-Pacific region, including the Red Sea, and can be found in coral reefs and rocky areas at depths ranging from 2 to 30 meters.
The Pearl Wrasse is a relatively small fish, reaching a maximum length of around 8 cm. It is characterized by its overall pinkish-orange coloration, with a distinctive pearly white stripe running along the lateral line.
These fish are known for their active and curious behavior, often seen darting in and out of crevices and small openings in the reef. They feed on small invertebrates, such as crustaceans and mollusks, and are known to be important cleaners of other fish by removing parasites and dead skin.
In the aquarium trade, Pearl Wrasse is a popular fish due to its vibrant coloration and interesting behavior. However, it can be challenging to keep and requires a well-established and mature aquarium with plenty of hiding places and live rock for perching. It is best kept with other peaceful fish and invertebrates that are not aggressive or territorial.
