The Bruguiere's fairy wrasse is a relatively small fish, reaching a maximum length of around 7 cm. It is characterized by its bright orange-red coloration with a series of blue lines and dots on the fins and scales.

These fish are active and social, often seen in small groups swimming above the reef. They feed on small invertebrates, such as crustaceans and worms.

In the aquarium trade, Bruguiere's fairy wrasse is a popular fish due to its vibrant coloration and interesting behavior. However, it can be challenging to keep and requires a well-established and mature aquarium with plenty of hiding places and live rock for perching. They are best kept in groups of at least six individuals and may require supplemental feeding to thrive in captivity. It is important to note that they can be aggressive towards other fish, especially other fairy wrasses, and should be kept in a species-only tank or with other robust and similarly-sized fish.
