Thalassoma duperreyi. The Saddle Wrasse is a colorful and stunning large wrasse found in the waters off of Hawaii. Saddle Wrasses have a mostly blue body with a strong thick orange vertical stripe behind their head. Their bodies also have some strong hints of green.
Saddle Wrasses reach a maximum size of around 11 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons in size. Saddle Wrasses are considered aggressive fish and shouldn’t be kept with smaller fish. Saddle Wrasses will also eat many of the inverts found in reef tanks. This makes them a bad choice for most peaceful reef tanks with smaller fish. If you want to add a Saddle Wrasse to your reef tank, please proceed with caution.
